Why is it important for us as a Filipino citizen to understand the Philippine History?

What is
the importance of this history to our life in present? (40pts)

Developing our historical knowledge entails gaining a better understanding of all of these
extinctions that happened in the country a long time ago. We can learn about the pillars that different
civilizations, including cultures and individuals who are different from their own, were built upon. All of
this knowledge allows Filipino to become more well-rounded individuals who are better prepared to
learn in all of their academic disciplines and also for non-academic. History provides us insights into the
issues that face our present civilization. Many of the problems or issues of current Philippine society can
be linked back to historical questions which helps us gain solution on it because as the generation pass
by problems are also evolved and complex solutions also developed. Without studying Philippine
history, we can’t just simply understand or give a solution to a certain problem especially to the
economics or politics and how we live on today. Philippines has also different myths and stories. These
narratives influence how we Filipino view our country and our place within it. We may learn about how
great institutions are established and how they have contributed to where we are today by studying
history. Another is looking back at wonderful fellow countrymen is a way for many of Filipinos to
construct our own identity. Childhood is spent figuring out who we are and what impact we can have on
the world. Allowing children to learn about their country's identity is one approach to help them do so.
Philippine history provides us enough of knowledge on how individuals and communities in the country
behave. It is difficult to comprehend how individuals and society work, despite the fact that many
disciplines seek to do so. It also helps us to determine on how we should live and differ from other
countries since we do have our own unique of cultures and clothing that was originated from our
ancestors.

What are the amendment procedures under the 1935 Constitution? (20pts)

The CA was a 21-member commission under the 1935 Constitution. When the 1935
Constitution was revised in 1940, it resulted in a structural change in the legislature. The
unicameral legislature was repealed, and a bicameral legislature comprised of the Senate and
the House of Representatives was established in its place. As a result, the CA's composition
was changed from a 21-member body to a 25-member body consisting of the Senate President,
who serves as ex-officio Chairman, 12 Senators, and 12 Members of the House of
Representatives. A system of checks and balances was established between the three
branches of government. Congress was given the power to decide whether presidential

How was the 1973 constitution presented to the people for approval? (20pts)

Marcos issued Proclamation No. 1102 on January 17, 1973, confirming and stating that the 1973
Constitution had been accepted by the Filipino people and was thus in force. The Ratification Cases
heard by the Philippine Supreme Court in 1973 contested these findings. The results of the election and
the ratification of the 1973 Constitution were affirmed by the court. Changes to voting requirements
were adopted for this plebiscite. The voting age was lowered from 18 to 15, and people who were

In our culture, how we adopt the cultures that we have in our country? How was the Spaniards
influencing our culture? (20pts)

We embrace whatever culture our families have and pass it down to our children when they
establish their own families. Our family is always a component of how we grow up in Filipino culture.
Because of the various cultures that exist in our country, it is typical for families to be culturally diverse.
It is frequently a blend of our parents' cultures manifested in the form of family customs and beliefs.
Because of modern technology such as the internet and social media, it has become a family tradition
for us to experiment with diverse cultures. Through long period of time that Filipinos are under the hand
of Spaniards there are lot of cultures from them that the Filipino influences us starting from the
languages like the tagalog word “kumusta” was derived from the Spanish “como esta” which means how
are you. The use of Spanish numerals is now the industry standard. The usage of native last names was
one of the most remarkable things that the Spanish changed about the Philippines. Lastly, the food
wherein the Spanish bright it in the country and it influenced or adopted into the diet of Filipinos like
the cocoa and so many more.
