History
CREATION - 2003
In 2003, failed attempts in transforming the Limbe Botanic Garden to the Mount Cameroon
Biodiversity Conservation Centre (MCBCC) paved the way for the creation of Geospatial Technology
Group (GTG). Operating as an NGO, GTG provided technical assistance in support of biodiversity
conservation and management. The services provided included:
• Satellite based Navigation (GPS) and Remote Sensing
• Cartography and Geographical Information Systems
By 2004, the World Resources Institute’s (WRI) technical assistance project to assist the Ministry
of Forest & Wildlife in controlling illegal timber harvest highlighted the importance of these
advance technologies to forest management. This extended the activities of GTG from not only
supporting biodiversity conservation and management, to providing similar to forest management.

TRANSFORMATION - 2007
By 2007, sustainable forest management was at the center of forest resources exploitation in
Cameroon. Demand for GTG services increased extending into other forest operations:
• Forest resources surveys
• Management planning
In order to appropriately address these increasing demand for mapping services, backstopped
by national and international consultants, GTG was transformed into a limited liability company.

BECOMING SUB-REGIONAL - 2010

The company’s performances gradually resulted to the demand for its services in neighboring
countries. Contracts were signed to elaborate and/or implement forest management plans in
the Republic of Congo and Central African Republic thus paving the way for the creation of:
•2010 - GTG Congo Sarl in the Republic of Congo
•2015 - GTG-RCA Sarl in the Central African Republic
