Portugal is a relatively low-lying country, with no mountain peaks exceeding 6,500 feet
The highest mountain in Portugal is Pico Mountian,Torre, the peak of the Serra da Estrela range, about midway between
the Tejo and Douro rivers. The Serra da Estrela range has tall granite and schist plateaus that alternate with green
valleys.
In northeastern Portugal, the Tras-os-Montes range is also largely granite and schist. In the southeast, the Serra de
Sao Mamede and the Serra da Arrabida, south of Lisbon, are the other major ranges in the country
the Azores. Situated about 760 miles west of Portugal, the Azores make up the most isolated archipelago in the Atlantic

Portuguese political system
How does the Portyuguese political system Works?
Well it’s actually pretty different from most other European countries!
The portuguese system has shifted a lot in the last century actually
Padding from a monarchy country to a bicameral Republic and then passing authoritarian regime.
Well until the Carnation Revolution at it’s current form
So actually or roughly speking it’s a semi-presidential republic which is divided in five branches Government, legislative, executve, judicial, and
also the president of the republic

The Government branch is the consitutional assembly, following the democratic traditions of other countries that divides the State power in
3 branches which one is to make laws one is to enforce them and one to judge them

The Legislative branch Portugal is a constitutionalunitarian semi-predential republic with a parliamentary emphasis which this mean that the
president has some very important power but not all of themsince most of the decisions are made in the parliament so as the assembly of the
republic (the name of the portuguese Parliament) is made up of 230 deputies which they are elected for 4 years in 22 election circles and the
assembly is the responsable for supporting the government approving its programs and the state Budget as they discuss and approve the law
projects

The executive branch is the government itself.

Portuguese political system
The Judicial branch : the courtsare the representatives of the Justice in the name of people as they defend the laws and reghts of the
citizens by judging the one accused of breaking any type of law

President of the republic :the president is the head of State and of the Armed Forces and it’s directly elected by the citizens for a mandate
of 5 years which this position assures the national independece and the unity of the state and has the function of over seeing the activity of
the Government

But what was the pourpes of this or the idea

So as the Third Portuguese Republic which was created on the 25th of April of 1974 the Idea was of destroying the authoritarianism and
corportism that existed in the prior regime and imposing a democracy
But after the revolution there was a period of instability where diffrent forces fougth for the power to draw the new regime also known as
the PREC but after the 25th of November of 1975 the current pluralist and democratic regime was consolidated.

empire in Asia, Africa, and South America was at its
peak.after the Portuguese revolution, the country’s economy
was disconnected from Portugal’s remaining overseas
possessions in Africa and reoriented toward Europe. In 1986
Portugal joined the European Economic Community (ultimately
succeeded by the European Union [EU]), Portugal’s economy is
now dominated by serviceslarge inflows of structural funds,
private capital, and direct investment have fostered and

During the Inquisition period in Portugal, there was one easy way to tell if
your neighbour was Jewish, and that was by whether or not they ate pork. Of
course, Jews didn’t actually want to eat pork, so they came up with another
solution: create a sausage that looked and tasted like pork, but was actually
made of other meats like chicken, duck, and rabbit. The end product, which
was flavoured to give a pork look and taste, was hung outside of people’s
homes to show that they’d genuinely converted.
