Vehicle maintenance and servicing is carried out when the vehicle completes certain kilometres on
its running or when the vehicle does not give proper performance. It is suggested that the vehicle
owners carry out regular and periodical checks on their vehicles. Automobile workshops provide
services of preventive maintenance of motor vehicles as well as for repairs and overhauls. Preventive
maintenance cuts the down time and increases life of the vehicle and well-equipped automobile
workshop is a must for this purpose. Four types of maintenance strategies followed by automobile
workshops are as follows:

Corrective Maintenance
Preventive Maintenance
Risk-based Maintenance
Condition-based Maintenance

Properly maintaining a vehicle will not only ensure its safety and dependability, but may also
increase fuel efficiency as well as help maintain vehicles value.

To continually develop and upgrade Automotive Skills for Higher value additions (higher value
addition through Skilling) students of VI Semester are required to undergo month long training on
automobile service maintenance in an automobile workshop.

After the completion of the training, you are required to submit a report on the same with the
certificate of completion from the authorized service centre.
