In recent years, the Internet has evolved from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0, with a growing focus on
decentralization and the empowerment of users. Web 2.0 is characterized by centralized
platforms and applications that rely on centralized servers and databases to store and manage
data, often resulting in a loss of privacy and control for users. In contrast, Web 3.0 is
characterized by decentralized systems that aim to put users in control of their data and to
reduce the power of centralized organizations.
My PhD research focuses on exploring the challenges and potential solutions related to data
ownership and control in today's digital environment, specifically through the lens of semi-
decentralization. By balancing the benefits of centralization and decentralization, I aim to
provide users with greater control over their data while also ensuring security and scalability.
In my PhD research, I will expand upon the work and application presented in my publication by
exploring the potential of semi-decentralized solutions and applications to provide users with
greater control over their data, while also ensuring security and scalability. I will also examine
the potential of these solutions in enabling new business models and revenue streams based on
data ownership and control.
My PhD research is significant because it builds upon the innovative solution presented in my
publication and will contribute to the growing body of literature on data ownership and control
in the digital age. It will also provide valuable insights for organizations and developers looking
to leverage new solutions to enable new business models and revenue streams based on data
ownership and control. My research is situated at the intersection of Web 2.0 and Web 3.0,
exploring the potential of semi-decentralization to balance the benefits of centralization and
decentralization, and to provide users with greater control over their data while ensuring
security and scalability. By examining the challenges and potential solutions related to data
ownership and control in the context of semi-decentralized systems, I aim to contribute to the
ongoing development of Web 3.0 and to inform the design of new solutions and applications
that prioritize user control and privacy.
