CHARACTERS

Dudong In the story, he is the primary dynamic

character and protagonist. He was
just seventeen when he married
and eighteen when he had to deal
with the challenges of fatherhood. It
was clear from the account that he
was self-obsessed and irresponsible
with his actions and decisions. He
desired wisdom but felt deprived of
it because wisdom is earned over a
long period of time and is passed
down by individuals who have
wisdom themselves, which his
father lacked, making Dudong's
prediction that he would never be
able to surpass his father appear
accurate. He wasn't able to properly
nurture his children because he
married and fathered them at an
early age.
Teang Dudong's spouse. Teang regrets dynamic
marrying at a young age, but she
never regrets marrying Dudong.
Though she grieved from time to
time because of the tough and
never-ending work she had to
complete, she never informed
Dudong about it for fear of causing
Dudong to detest her – such is her
patience and love for Dudong that
she was able to deal with it every
single day of her married life.
Blast Dudong's child, who went through static
the same things Dudong did in his
adolescence.

Setting

It is the time of planting season In a province “FARM” teenage marriage that causes
almost June to August. Started in poverty.
the morning until night.

Kind of conflict

1. Man vs. himself 1. The protagonist is confronted with internal

conflict. Internal tension in the sense that
Dudong was unsure if he could manage himself
2. Man vs. man to start a family because he knows he is of legal
age, can be self-sufficient, and can clearly
distinguish between good and wrong. But, as a
result of his immaturity, he struggled to fulfill
the standards that he needed to meet.
2. It's a battle between man and himself. Because
there appears to be a conflict between the
father and the child. Dudong and his father
were the first, followed by Dudong and Blas,
Dudong's son.

THEME 1. This story is titled Footnote to Youth because the

1. Marriage author intended it to be a guide for all young people.
2. Youth We must take away from this narrative the lesson that
3. Responsibilities we should not hurry into things like love or marriage;
there are many opportunities that we will miss if we
marry at a young age. "ANG PAG AASAWA AY HINDI
PARANG KANIN NA ISUSUBO KAPAG NAPASO AY
ILULUWA," as the phrase goes. And, as a young person,
marriage is such a huge burden, and we must have
adequate wisdom and understanding before taking on
this obligation.
2. This story serves as a reminder to the youth that we
should learn to value all of our parents' expertise and
upbringing. Even if we disagree with what they are
saying, we must comply because, sooner or later, we
will learn that whatever they want us to be is solely for
our benefit. We may say something hurtful right now,
but when we reflect on the situation, we will see that
what they are saying is correct.
3. The protagonists learn that fulfilling one's
commitments at different periods of life is not as
straightforward as it appears. We may be oblivious to
this fact as youth, but we will be unable to evade such
responsibilities after we marry and have children.
POV This writing style enables more movement and
information to be conveyed in less time. The story
begins while the protagonist is transitioning from a
child to an adult.

3. Climax- Dudong saw his wife in the "papag"
with his firstborn kid. He was queerly pierced
by his baby's cry, named Blas. He couldn't
contain his giddy enthusiasm and felt
humiliated because he wasn't yet able to
sustain a family. Dodong then wanted to touch
the baby to simulate a father's touch.
4. Falling Action- When Dodong consented to
Blas. Blas had already made up his mind, so he
can't make rejections. Dodong, on the other
hand, does not want Blas to marry because he
is young, but love, as they say, is a tremendous
force.
5. Dudong sees how history is repeating itself and
warns Blas about the ramifications of such a
monumental decision. However, like his father,
he follows in his father's footsteps and marries
his fiance at the age of seventeen.
