Greetings Parents,

At The Culture of Music, I intend to bestow the knowledge of music to our students. The
course consists of the basics of music theory for all grades from Pre-K to 5th. They will gain
understanding of the culture of music, it's history and be able to create their own masterpieces.

My interests pertain to music, world history, culture, and languages. I enjoy combining all
these subjects to spice up the lectures. I appreciate you all for having me teach our students the
ways of music.

I consider incorporating a few ideas to build principles of teaching elementary music. The
three concepts of learning I will apply will be Gamified Learning, Video or Multimedia Lessons
and Presentations, as well as Create Digital Content.
First and foremost, all kids of all ages enjoy playing various games. This would reenforce
the lesson that was just given and would ensure that my students are fully aware of the material. I
will incorporate trivia questions, games focusing on listening skills and music games from PBS
Kids.
Next, I will have my students perform research projects using PowerPoint. This concept
however will be given to grades third to fifth since they will research their topics, make a
PowerPoint and present it to the class. The topics will be simple components such as research on
composers or various genres of music.
Lastly, I will have my students be able to create their own music. I will use software
such as SoundCloud so they can learn how to produce their own masterpieces.
All usage of various software will be granted to students ONLY by the consent of a
parent or guardian. A permission form will be provided at the beginning of every school year.
Before I present to my students a project, I will give a brief yet serious lecture on the
usage of technology. Including personal experience, I will hold them accountable to focus on
their presentations without the distractions. We can easily veer off to another app or search up
something else as soon as we open a browser. My students will have to enforce a habit of
dedicating their time and effort to complete a specific task.
Overall, there are three strategies for Virtual Active Engagement.

 Create a game the students can interact with as they log in.
o I will set up a guessing game for my students about our recent music
lessons. In a way I would use a "Who's that Pokémon?" type theme to get
them engaged with it.
  Change my lessons into short projects.
o In Quaver Music, each lesson builds off from each other. Therefore, I will
be able to create a weeks worth project. For instance, if we are learning
about music notes I will teach them the different notes throughout the that
week. Another illustration is if my fifth graders are learning the ukulele
then I would break up the lessons for the week.
 Start the stream with a discussion post like a warm-up.
o The post will either be concerning my student’s well-being, their interests
or about the previous lesson.

Sinecerely,
