PROBLEM STATEMENT:

A pre-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of emotional freedom technique on the


level of stress among patients of substance abuse at selected rehabilitation centres of District
Ajitgarh, Punjab.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:

 To develop a protocol on emotional freedom technique.


 To conduct the pre-test to assess the level of stress among patients of substance abuse.
 To operationalize the protocol and demonstrate Emotional Freedom Technique for 4
weeks.
 To conduct a post-test to assess the effectiveness of Emotional Freedom Technique.
 To compare the pre-test score and post test score.
 To find out the association of research finding with selected demographic variables.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS:

Emotional Freedom techniques: Emotional freedom technique is a tapping technique


that provides healing from physical and emotional pain or stress with the help of tapping with
fingertips to stimulate the energy points and restore the balance of energy in the body.

Stress: A state manifested by a specific syndrome which consists of all the non-specifically
induced changes within a biologic system.

Substance abuse: It refers to the misuse of drugs, which will produce a negative impact on
health and behaviour.

Rehabilitation Centres: It refers to the centres or clinics where people with substance abuse
are treated.
Hypothesis:

Research Hypothesis:

H1-There will be significant difference between the pre test and post test level of stress
among substance abuse patients.

Null hypothesis: There will be no significant difference between the pre test and post test
level of stress among substance abuse patients.

Delimitations:

The study will be delimited to:

 Selected rehabilitation centres of District Ajitgarh ,Punjab.


 The study is delimited to 50 substance abuse patients at selected rehabilitation
centres.
