Before science there is alchemy, in the past alchemist goal is to find the

stone of knowledge or what we prefer to call as Philosopher stone they

believed that it grants eternal youth and health and it allows copper to turn
into gold, searching for this mystical stone prevents alchemist from making
progress, not until the father of modern chemistry was born.

Robert boyle was born in 1627 when he was 12 years old his father sent
him to Europe to advance his education, and 3 years later he found out that
the famous astronomer galileo galili died.
the death of galileo, triggered boyle on studying the works of galileo which
help boyle develop a passion for science that made him interested in the
pursuit of truth
So galileo galili was discussed in the past reports
he was known to be the first to report telescopic observations of the
mountains of the moon, the moon of jupiter, the phases of venus and the
rings of the Saturn because in the past the catholic church believed that the
earth did not move and was the centre of the universe and the church
though of galileo as a heretic but this did not stop him from writing letters
that explains his theory then galieo's book was banned, and he was
sentenced to a light regimen of penance and imprisonment at the discretion
of church inquisitors

And now we continue to Modern chemistry it is the synthesis of the very

process of invention it is a process of rational creativity in which the goal of
our chemist is to enrich our quality of life in numerous ways by providing
new solutions to problems
Including the famous law of Robert which is the Boyle’s law which describes
the inversely proportional relationship between the absolute pressure and
volume of gas, if the temperature is kept constant within the close system
It means that if the pressure increases the volume decreases and vice versa
when you fill your bike tires with air, you can see that if you pup air into a
tire, the gas molecules inside the tires get compressed and pack together.
This increases the pressure of the gas and it starts to push against the wall
of the tire and if you touch it you can feel how the tire becomes pressurized
and become tight
It is a book that opens the way to the modern chemistry by sweeping away
misguided alchemy and for providing the first modern definition of an
element, so dba kun waray si Robert boyle an mga chemist kunta yana

It helps science in the physiology of our respiratory system during

respiration our lungs make use of boyle's law. while inhaling, the lungs are
filled with air therefore they expand similarly when we exhale the lungs
evacuate air in our lungs shrink therefore the volume reduces and the
pressure increases
So how does this help science
It helps us Medical students understand why when a person who have sleep
apnea they are discouraged to position themselves to sleep supine it is
associated with an increased tendency of obstruction. mostly in overweight
because fat deposits in our Upper respiratory tract and it causes narrowing
of our airway and it led to decrease in muscle activity in this region,
So thanks to boy’s law it helps us develop intervention this is to position the
patient laterally which helps minimize pressure and helps the airway stay
open to reduce sleep apnea

In technology boyle has a huge impact in the machineries as he is the

pioneer of modern chemistry, he is the one who started making progress of
chemistry which is vital today especially because there is a Covid-19, thanks
to technology it helps us diagnose patient easily so we can treat them before
it can get worse, and because of chemistry it helps us become more
innovative in making new technology in providing new solutions to problem
in health, materials and energy usage

While for society due to chemistry it makes the people life easier the people
don’t have to spend their time walking because our new innovation makes
things uncomplicated, but sometimes chemistry in society can cause
devastations, some chemical industry emits greenhouse gases which is a
significant contributers of our climate crisis so i can say that chemistry is a
double edge sword it may help us today but it can hurt us tomorrow
