PREPARATION FOR THE JOURNEY

1.My name is Julie Hodge and I am a tehnical space writter, my job includes
working closely with scientists to present complex information in a way that is
closer to the public. We often use charts, diagrams, photographs and other visual
and audio materials to complete our reports. The team is completed by my two
other colleaugues, Claude Mayer, who is an astronomer, and Linda Britt, our most
talented computer hardware engineer.
Our expedition is called ‘’The Lightning P38’’, named by an unaccomplished
mission of the renowned novelist, aviator and journalist Antoine de Saint-
Exupery, in which his aeroplane disappeared above the Mediterranean Sea,during
World War II.
We were employed to visit a newly discovered planet named B612 with our
developed spacecraft named ‘’ASE’’, which is short for the novelist’s name.

2.The list containing my most important objects to bring to this discovery:

1. A notebook
2. Pencils
3. Camera
4. Graphic tablet
5. The book ‘’ The little prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
6. A family photograph
7. An Icon
8. Magnifiying glass
9. Eraser
10.Memory stick

3.My notes about:

1. Climate: There are only two seasons, a rainy one and an arid one.During
both the temperature rises at 45°, but the nights are below the freezing
point.
2. Flora and Fauna: Being desert, there are a few species of plants, such as:
cactuses with red and yellow flowers, Joshua Trees and Jumping cholla, also
known as Teddy Bear cholla. The fauna contains a species of birds very alike
to the Great Roadrunner, the Skin Drinking Desert Lizard and, of course, the
Star-Nosed Mole.
3. Public Buildings:Unlike Earth, there doesn’t exist such things as a City Hall
or a Courthose, each of the inhabitants receive a special code when they
are brought to life, kept by their parents until they are old enough so they
can use it.The code is used to make each public building appear, along with
its staff and servants to help the residents out.
4. Transport:The transport consists in getting from one place to another on
The Roadrunner, the fastest animal on the planet.
5. Communication Devices: The original code helps one humanoid get in
contact with another. They just have to type in the code and think about
that person they want to talk to and the communication starts.
6. Rituals and Celebrations: Once a month all the inhabitants get together and
participate to the “Blessing Ritual”, in which they take human shapes and
travel to Earth to contribute to its reduction of pollution.
7. Food and Drinks: Once again, unlike Earth, B612’s residents don’t consume
processed foods or drink water and soda: there is a different type of gum
for any meal, drink, or snack, each with a different colour and texture.
8. Sports/Games: They always exercise by running or swimming, and in their
free time they also play air sports, similar to humans.
9. Music: The same code is used by the inhibitants to invent their own music
and lyrics within a few miliseconds.
10.Domestic Dwellings:Their houses are really simple, most of them containing
one story, similar to Oriental houses, with furniture made from bamboo,
large windows and lots of open spaces. Each house is built around a small
lake, so that its residents attract energy from the sacred form of nature.
