Food production is a complex matter, affecting
people' s life, organizations profits, and the well-being. It is not always straightforward to say what is right and what is wrong when it comes to production of food. Many ethical questions can be raised. Climate change, animal welfare, fair trade, health and safety of employees as well as consumers, fair treatment of employees and their social rights, economic sustainability, and use of natural resources are all important dimensions within the system of production, processing, trade, and where every food item often includes value conflicts. The Philippines is still primary an agricultural country despite the plan to make it an industrialized economy by 2000. Most citizens still live in rural areas and support themselves through agriculture. The country’s agriculture sector is made up or 4 sub- sectors: farming, fisheries, livestock, and forestry which together employ 39.8 percent of the labor force and contribute of 20 percent of Gross Domestic Product(GDP). Most of the features of a modern agriculture sector are in place but what had been lacking for the most part are: The political will to fully invest in its requirements Concentration and sustained efforts Coordination and convergence of public and private investments and interventions Greater transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. Food industry Food industry comprises complex network activities, related to the supply, consumption, and catering of food product and services. It plays a significance role in the economic development of any nation. It is one of the world most dynamic economic sectors. Foods is a essential part of our lives. The food industry is the basic and important of every nation. It plays a crucial role in public health, food safety, food security, social development and nutrition. Product quality issues are major concerns in the food industry. AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY IN THE PHILIPPINES Agriculture in the Philippines is one of the essential industry, it consists of forestry, crop production, livestock farming, and aquaculture cultivation. Its outputs sustains the local demand and considered to be the essentials commodities within the country. Commercial crops assist both the agricultural export industry as well as the domestic demand and consumption. Growing crops for food consumption and fiber have been a lifelong activity in the Philippines. In the last few years, cultivating a million hectares of land has steadily increased. Perhaps what has been a common scenario recently is how locals are developing their backyard to raise their plants. These plants are vegetables and fruits to sustain their own demand ever since the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic has started in the Philippines.
