Initial Situasion

Siladen island is located in Manado City, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The island has a marine park with
numerous colorful fishes and coral reef as well as beautiful cave. The people work there mostly is
fisherman. It’s about 8 miles from the city center and we can reached approximately 1 hours by boat.
Siladen has an area of 31.25 hectares, so they have an inhabitant with 115 houses, 4 resort and a church.
The electricity in this island only turn on at the night from 6 pm until 12 pm so when the daylight they
have not power supply from PLN. Due to this condition, we would like to offer a solar panel system as
the main of power for the society who lives in this island.

Project Objectives, Expected results and Deliverables

the project goals are to give a student of experience and knowledge of designing solar panel system on
siladen island and also to provide the owner for switch from the fossil energy to renewable energy.

To start this, students should make a survey and mapping area, calculate the energy necessary , make a
design for PV system, and also estimate the costs on 4 months.

The result of this capstone project is to give a recommendation for the client how to proceed should be
given.

Type of assignment, work packages, deliverables

The project will include study literature/ research, survey and mapping, experiment, design, calculation
of the loads, calculation of the PV System.

This idea is helping to achieve energy transition because:

it can be reduce of fossil energy usage and change the renewable energy as the primary power supply of
the island and to educate of this people how important of renewable energy gradually.

The client agrees that a student team will work on the describe task. The client agrees with the frame
conditions.

Frame Conditions

Property Rights The right of of all work products are with the client and Manado State
Polytechnic.

Dates The project starts from middle of March (16 March 2023). The project ends with
a final presentation on end of July ( 28 July 2023).
