1 What is the value of R1 in the Figure shown below Ans:

‘2’

Figure

(1) 25Ω (2) 60 Ω (3) 100 Ω (4) 2000 Ω

Voltage across 60Ω = 160 − 100 = 60𝑉

60𝑉
Current through 60Ω = 60Ω = 1𝐴𝑉𝑅2 = 40𝑉 𝑉𝑅1 + 𝑉𝑅2 = 100𝑉

𝑉𝑅1 = 60𝑉
𝐼𝑅1 = 1𝐴
𝑅1 = 60Ω

“2’

Figure

(1) supplies 50 W (2) absorbs 50 W (3) supplies 32 W (4) absorbs 32 W

From the figure 𝑖𝑥 = 5𝐴

voltage across Dependent Source = 10𝑉
power = 𝑣 × 𝑖 = 50𝑊
but current flowing from + ve to -ve therefore it absorbs power i.e., 50𝑊
3 Calculate the equivalent capacitance in Figure Ans:
‘2’

Figure

(1) 3.5µF (2) 6.5µF (3) 2.4 µF (4) 2.6 µF

In the figure 1𝜇𝐹 & 2𝜇𝐹 are in parallel.

Total capacitance = 3𝜇𝐹.

Now 3𝜇𝐹&1.5𝜇𝐹 are in series.

3 × 1.5
𝐶𝑒𝑞 = = 1𝜇𝐹
3 + 1.5

now 1𝜇𝐹&5.5𝜇𝐹 are in parallel.

𝐶𝑒𝑞 = 1 + 5.5 = 6.5𝜇𝐹

5 What is the value of RTH for the circuit shown in the below figure Ans:
‘3’

Figure

‘4’

Figure
(1) 4 A, 2 Ω (2) 2 A, 2 Ω (3) 2 A, 9 Ω (4) 8 A, 2 Ω

𝐼𝑁 = Norton's Current = short circuit current.

By short circuiting load terminals 3Ω can be removed.

𝐼𝑆𝐶 = 12 × = 8𝐴
