BSED ENG 3B

ENG 322

Another semester means a fresh set of subjects and instructors. I usually get scared when the semester
ends because the next semester will bring us a different subject that is new to us and instructors who we have
never met before, so we will have to adjust ourselves all over again. We have no notion, or none of our
classmates have seen or heard of Ma'am Neste Joy Arguilla, so we don't know how good she is as a teacher or
as a person, but we are familiar with her subject because we have previously met literature from the past.

Ma'am Arguilla's beauty and charm captivated me from the moment she walked into the classroom.
Ma'am Arguilla has amazing communication skills; she knows how to get along with her students, and she
acknowledges every student's thought and query, but my favorite thing about her is that she always wears a
bright smile that people can adapt to. I'm not sure how to describe it, but she exudes wonderful energy toward
the students. But I won't deny that I have second thoughts about Ma'am Arguilla since we had previously faced
instructors who were extremely friendly to us students, but when it came to grading, we failed and earned a low
grade, but unexpectedly, we obtained a high and passing grade from Ma'am.

Since the beginning of Teaching and Assessment of Literature Studies, I have noticed that we did not
find it difficult to grasp because, as Ma'am Arguilla stated, we are simply reviewing and learning from previous
subjects, which is correct; we are essentially repeating this subject from our first year to the present. I also
believe that a skilled teacher can make a complex subject simple, as I witnessed with her. Ma'am Arguilla has a
lot of great qualities since she makes this subject simple for us and puts no pressure on us; instead, she
motivates and encourages us.

We are charged with conducting a demo-lecture by pair as part of this subject, and we don't get to pick
our partners; instead, Ma'am Arguilla chooses our partners, for which I am grateful because my partner is a
friend of mine. We are assigned various topics, and ours is all about comprehending poetry. As I remembered,
there are two pairs who have completed their demo, and after that, we received sad news, yet we are still happy.
We are happy that Ma'am Arguilla has been promoted, but we feel sad that she will no longer be our instructor
for this subject.

When Ma'am Aguilla left, I got emotional because, even in the short period of time that she became our
teacher, she contributed a lot to us. Ma’am is like a big sister to me, and she constantly compliments me. She
always says I'm gorgeous today, my red lipstick matches me, and every time she says such things, she's always
smiling. She still says such things whenever we come across each other on campus. I'll never forget her saying
she'd be the one to introduce the new ENG 322 instructor, but she didn't, which we can understand because
she's busy.

When I first saw our new instructor, which is Ma’am Gladys Guzman, I was a little bit scared because I
was late at that time. We continued our demo with Ma'am Gladys, and when it was our turn, unfortunately, it was
our schedule for face-to-face class, where I was very pressured because I am scared of talking in front of many
people, and most of my classmates are very lucky because they did their demo during our online class. We
successfully finished our demo, and I am claiming that we got good feedback from Ma'am Gladys, plus she is
also giving us suggestions and pointing out those things that we need to improve, which is very helpful to all of
the incoming teachers.

I was nervous when I first saw our new instructor, Ma'am Gladys Guzman, because I was late
at that time. We continued our demo with Ma'am Gladys, and when it was our turn, it was
unfortunately our schedule for face-to-face class, where I was very stressed because I am afraid of
speaking in front of a large group of people, and most of my classmates were very fortunate because
they did their demo during our online class. We successfully completed our demo, and I claim that
we had positive comments from Ma'am Gladys, as well as suggestions and pointing out areas for
improvement, which is really beneficial to all of us future teachers.

Ma'am Gladys, although we got along for a bit, we appreciate that you have been part of
our journey here at the college and are one of the instructors who help us shape ourselves to be
excellent educators in the future. All of your suggestions will be implemented in the following years.
Since we enrolled in this course and chose this major, we are not shocked if we come across
literature in the future. As future English instructors, we will take literature seriously.
