    Alternative Learning System - In the Philippines, the Alternative Learning System (ALS) is a parallel
    learning system that allows out-of-school youth and adult learners to obtain fundamental and functional
    reading skills and access similar paths to finish primary education.

    Formal Education - Formal education refers to classroom instruction that follows a prescribed curriculum. It
    is an academic schooling progression from elementary (grade school) through secondary (high school) and
    tertiary levels (higher education).
