FESTIVAL DANCES

⦁ are cultural dances performed to the strong beats of percussion


instruments by a community of people sharing the same culture.
⦁ usually done in honor of a Patron Saint for or in thanksgiving of a
bountiful harvest.
⦁ draw the people’s culture by portraying the people’s way of life
through movements, costumes and implements inherent to their
place of origin.
⦁ have been a consistent crowd-producing activity leading upliftment
of a community’s economy due to its tourism and entertainment
value.
⦁ are one form of entertainment that attract foreign and domestic
tourists to visit a place eventually leading to the elevation of the
Filipino’s quality of life.

Basics of First Aid

First Aid is an immediate and temporary care given to a person who


suddenly gets ill or injured.

ROLES OF FIRST AID

• A bridge that fills the gap between the victim and the Physician.
• Not intended to compete with or to take the place of the services of
the Physician
• Ends when the services of the Physician begins
OBJECTIVES OF FIRST AID

• To save lives
• To prolong life
• To alleviate suffering
• To prevent further injury

Characteristics of a good First Aider:

1. Gentle
2. Tactful
3. Observant
4. Sympathetic
5. Resourceful

PRINCIPLES OF FIRST AID

• DO’s in Giving First Aid


• Stay calm
• Reassure and comfort the victim
• Check a medical bracelet indicating medical condition
• Loosen tight clothing
• Keep the victim covered to reduce shock
• DON’Ts in Giving First Aid
• Give food and drink to an unconscious person
• Move an injured person unless you need to place him or her in the
recovery position

Steps in Assessing Emergency Situations:

1. STEP 1: Is anyone in danger?


2. STEP 2: Move to the quietest victim
3. STEP 3: Open the airway
4. STEP 4: Check for breathing
5. STEP 5: Look for signs of circulations
