A Semi- Detailed Lesson Plan in Physical Education and Health

Grade 9- 3rd Quarter

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to
 Define festival dances.
 Identify the types of festival dances.
 Express ones opinion about the importance of festival dances to
the Filipino culture

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Festival Dances

Reference: MAPEH in Action 10pp.260-262

Materials: Laptop, Powerpoint Presentation, Picture, TV monitor.

III. Procedure:

A. Prelimitary Activities

 The teacher will asks one of the students to lead the prayer.
 The greetings and responses will follow.
 Checking of attendance.
 Warm- up exercise

B. Motivation

 The teacher will present pictures to the class and ask the students to
raise their right hand if the pictures are familiar to them.
These are the pictures:

 The teacher will ask the students about the pictures being presented.
 What have you observed in the pictures?
 What are they doing?
 Are the pictures familiar?
 To sum up all the pictures presented our topic for today is all
about?
C. Lesson Proper

 The teacher will introduce the topic Festival Dances.

 Festival Dances are cultural dances performed in a strong beats of


percussion instruments by a community of people sharing the same culture
usually done in honor of a Patron Saints or in thanksgiving of a bountiful
harvest.

 The teacher will discuss the two types of festival dances.

There are two types of festival dances:


 Religious Festival
 Non-Religious Festival

 Religious Festivals are community of people sharing the same


culture usually done in honouring a Patron Saint.
