loops Fire Centre. This prohibition is being
enacted to help prevent human-caused
wildfires and protect public safety. It will
remain in effect until 12 noon on Oct. 13,
or until the order is rescinded.
The prohibition includes burning pile,
stubble or grass, fireworks, sky lanterns,
binary exploding targets, burn barrels or
burn cages of any size or description, and
air curtain burners. These prohibitions
apply to all public and private land with-
in the Kamloops Fire Centre jurisdiction.
This prohibition does not include
campfires 0.5m high x 0.5m wide or
smaller, and does not apply to cook-
ing stoves that use gas, propane, or bri-

School District 58 will be part of an expansion of the 2019 Seamless Day Kinder-
garten pilot program — though the host school still has not been determined.
Seamless Day Kindergarten integrates before- and after-school care into the kin-
dergarten classroom, delivered by certified early childhood educators (ECEs) who
work alongside the classroom teacher. The program makes the best use of available
school space, existing classrooms, outdoors, school gyms and libraries outside of
school hours.
The Province provided $3 million in 2022-23 to add 20 classrooms, including Nico-
la-Similkameen SD58, expanding the Seamless Day Kindergarten to 45 classrooms
throughout the province. In 2023-24, $4.1 million in new funding will be provided to
support the Seamless Day Kindergarten pilot.
