Famous Quote

“Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.” — William Clement Stone
The quote imply that it is important to set high goals in life so that even if you fail to
reach those goals, you will fall somewhere near those goals. For a lot of people, setting
high goals is impractical. They assume that aiming for something that seems impossible
to achieve with your current ability is a waste of time because you will fail anyway. I
used to share the same ideology with them. Back when I was younger, I had a lot of
self-doubt, I was uncertain of my abilities, I was scared of taking risks and failing, so I
never set any goals that I think was too high to achieve. However, I was very inspired by
the quote, I started to realize that it is fine if I fail to achieve my goals, and how much
more motivated I would be if I aim for bigger things. In light of such inspiring remark, I
am now finally able to fulfill my goal of attending ISB-UEH for my higher education. The
quote teaches me to never underestimate my capabilities. It reminds me that I do not
need to feel constrained by my abilities, and that only those who are persistent and
determined will have the ability to think big and put up their best effort to achieve the
peak of success.

Strengths

I am adaptable and flexible. I have never experienced any issues when dealing with
change, which may be attributed to my thorough planning and proactive approach to
dealing with unforeseen occurrences. I view unforeseen changes as possibilities rather
than obstacles, thus I am also very open-minded, which helps me make better
decisions. People and organizations who possess adaptability abilities are more inclined
to thrive in times of transition or when confronted with unanticipated issues. During
adversity such as a pandemic, having the ability for adaptation is essential for leaders
and their teams (Staats, C., 2015).
Having great use of English is my strength. In this age of globalization, the importance
of the English language for advancing one's career is obvious (Clement et at., 2018).
According to the journal The English Classroom in 2018, poor English communication
skills have been proved to make it more difficult to acquire a good job. Thus, attending a
prestigious university in Vietnam that offers full English teachings like ISB-UEH will give
me the chance to enhance my English abilities and gain further knowledge for my future
job. Because of this, having a strong command of the English language will certainly
help me flourish in a variety of professions.

I am quite proficient in critical thinking. This is because I always thoroughly examine

and consider the information from different perspectives to comprehend its context and
use it in a practical setting. The modern world needs individuals with a wide range of
talents, including cognition, the application of many different ways of thinking, research,
problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity (Ghazivakili et al., 2014). I believe
critical thinking is a skill that must be developed and invested on constantly. Because it
not only makes it easier for me to process information quickly and intelligently, but it
also gives me a better knowledge of my own goals and motivations.

I also believe I have effective interpersonal skills. This is because I communicate and
interact with others very well. I consider myself an active listener, since I am always
willing to listen to other people opinions thoroughly and respond appropriately.
Additionally, I believe I have high emotional intelligence since I am able to regulate my
own emotions while also able to detect and appropriately react to other people's
emotions. By being emotionally aware, an individual can control their own emotions
while also recognizing the feelings of others and responding in a way that enables them
to maintain a professional working relationship that is mutually beneficial (Klein et at.,
2006).
Weaknesses

I believe that procrastination is my biggest weakness. Even though I am aware that

my delay will lead to negative outcomes, I often find myself struggle to manage my time
and deadlines, thus procrastinate by putting off my academic tasks. Higher
procrastination is linked to poor performance and negative effects to within-person
effect (Kljajic et al., 2022). Therefore, if I keep letting myself get distracted, it will
eventually have adverse effects on my academic performance, my mental health, as
well as my future career. To improve this, I plan on having better time management and
while also taking care of my mental well-being so that I will be more focus and not
overwork myself.

I also find myself lacking of work experience and unprepared for a decent job. I think it
will be challenging for me to land a job if I only take part in a handful of activities and
perform insignificant volunteer work, as that is also a crucial component that employers
will look at on my CV. Prospects Early Careers Survey 2022 found that the majority of
university students encountered challenges when applying for jobs or apprenticeships,
with 45% of them feeling underprepared for the workforce compared to 36% of college
students. For the time being, I am thinking about taking part in ISB-UEH clubs and
marketing competitions, which I believe will help me gain additional practical knowledge
and improve my chances of getting a decent job. With that, I believe this particular
weakness of mine will only be a minor flaw when I graduate from university.

One of my other weaknesses is the lack of expertise in a particular skillset, which

ultimately leads to career indecision. Although I have experience with several different
tasks, I have trouble identifying the one in which I excel. This might affect my future
career because it would be challenging for me to achieve my full career potential if I.
From the study of researchers on The Effect of Career Indecision on Wrong Choice of
an Occupation in 2020, it was concluded that career indecision had a significant effect
on wrong choice of an occupation by twenty-six percent.
Opportunities

I can fulfill my dream of pursuing higher education abroad since ISB BBUS program
also offers students an opportunity to participate in exchange programs every year.
Programs for studying abroad are considered to be an effective approach to assist
internationalization initiatives and the growing emphasis on global citizenship as an
academic objective (Goldstein et at., 2022). For many foreign students, having the
opportunity to be in an entirely foreign setting is one of the main benefits of studying
abroad. I can step beyond of my comfort zone, experience new aspects of life, and
interact with people from other cultural backgrounds thanks to this opportunity.
Globalization is accelerating, and businesses are pouring millions of dollars into
expanding international markets. Employers therefore have a strong preference for
students who have studied abroad since they are viewed as independent, self-sufficient,
and prepared to face challenges (Quan et al., 2023).

The current shift to hybrid work model in the global business environment post-
COVID-19 is another notable change that is align with my strengths. According to a
research by Zippia in 2022, 74% of American businesses will either utilize a permanent
hybrid work model or plan to do so, with 63% of high-growth businesses utilizing a
hybrid work model that allows for "productivity anywhere.". Some people may find the
shift to hybrid work challenging in term of productivity, connection or efficiency and
effectiveness. However, since I am highly adaptable to change and also a Gen Z, this
initial shift in the work model is significantly beneficial to me. I view this as a good
opportunity to equip myself with more technological skills that are necessary for my job
and be more

I believe my strengths will be benefited by the trend of multinational corporations putting

a greater emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Diverse workplaces foster more
employee motivation, engagement, and job satisfaction, which results in a more
productive atmosphere (Herring, C., 2009). As a Vietnamese, I will feel more motivated
and productive when working for a company that promotes diversity and inclusion,
therefore with the current trend, there will be much more opportunities and options for
me. When working in the diverse workplace, I also have many opportunities to work with
people from different backgrounds with a diverse skillset and abilities that I can learn
from.

Threats

The first threat I recognize is the competitive nature of the job market. The 4.0
technological revolution has presented workers with a number of new issues, including
increased job rivalry and high employer expectations (NLD, 2020). Although the quality
of education in Vietnam has improved, the majority of graduates still fall short of the
requirements for work because they lack the practical skills necessary for the position,
which contributes to high rates of youth unemployment. Therefore, in order to stand out
more and attract the employer's interest, I believe it is crucial to acquire additional
experience that is essential to the position for which I intend to apply. I can acquire
these skills by improving my academic preparation and look for internship opportunities

Given my weaknesses, with the fast-paced work environment of today world, I believe
I may face some difficulties in my career. In today’s fast-paced environment, workflows
change and move rapidly, forcing you to quickly adapt to new circumstances or juggle
multiple daily tasks and deadlines (Ayub et al., 2014). Sometimes I do not keep up with
my deadlines, so I believe I would find the today’s work pace too fast and hard to keep
up, which will be counter-productive and lead to burnout.

Most of the companies nowadays hire employees base on their skills. This change to
recruiting based on skills has been impacted by a variety of causes. One effect of the
Covid-19 epidemic was the disruption of supply and demand curves, which increased
competition. A McKinsey survey on skills-based practices in 2020 suggests that the
need to address skill gaps is more urgent than ever. As a result, companies have made
a significant shift toward skill-building and skill-based hiring. Therefore, identifying the
skills that I am particularly skilled at is crucial for my future career.
