THE NEXT GULF POWER WHO WANTS A SHARE OF THE FIFA SUPER EVENT.

Saudi Arabia is pursuing an ambitious plan to host the FIFA World Cup in the near future.
The country has already secured several high-profile sporting events, including the annual
Formula 1 race and the Asian Winter Games in 2029. According to the country's tourism
minister, Ahmed Al Khateeb, Saudi Arabia is considering making a joint bid with Egypt and
Greece to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Hosting the World Cup would be a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia, which is seeking
to open up its economy to tourists and diversify its revenue sources away from oil sales.
However, the country faces several challenges in its bid to host the event.

One of the most significant difficulties is a technical one. Qatar has already hosted the first
Middle Eastern World Cup in 2022, and FIFA's policy of continental rotation means that any
bid from Saudi Arabia would require a change in policy to bring the event back to the region.
To overcome this hurdle, Saudi Arabia would need to join forces with a major European
nation that is also bidding to host the World Cup, creating a cross-continental offer.

Despite the challenges, Saudi Arabia remains determined to secure the hosting rights for
soccer's marquee event. Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman recently attended the opening
ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, highlighting
the country's commitment to the sport. A successful bid would not only bring international
attention to Saudi Arabia but also stimulate its economy and help the country establish itself
as a major player in the world of sports.
