The first steam engine to pull a passenger train was built nearly 200 years ago. It took 2 hours
to travel 40 kilometers. The early steam trains burned coal to boil water and make steam.
Trains have changed a lot over time. They use different source of power to help them travel
faster and useless fuel. Some trains use diesel fuel, some use electricity. Trains that use diesel
fuel have large, heavy engines that use less fuel than other engines. In many cities, passenger
trains run on electricity. Some electric trains run underground through tunnels. One of the
fastest in the world is called the bullet train. It is a Japanese electric train. It can travel at 300
kilometers per hour.

Penguins are birds with black and white feathers. They have wings, but they cannot fly.
Instead, they spend most of their time gliding and soaring underwater. When they are on land,
they waddle back and forth. A group of penguins that lives together is called a colony.
Penguins live near Salt water, so that is what they drink. They have a special gland in their
bodies that pushes the salt out of their beaks. Penguins find their food in the water too… Fish,
shrimp, and krill.
Penguins need to watch out for several predators. Some animals that eat penguins are
leopard, seals, sea lions, and orcas (killer whales). Most people think about penguins living in
very cold places like Antarctica, but they also live on the coasts of South America, Africa,
Australia, and the Galapagos Island.

One of the feared animals in the world is the shark and the shark most people are afraid of is
the great white shark. It gets its name from its white belly. The top of the great white is grey
which helps it blend in with the rocky bottom of the ocean. Although some fish are bigger, like
the whale shark. The great white can grow up to 20 feet long. Unlike the calm, slow whale
shark that feeds on tiny fish and plants. The great white is speedy and aggressive. A great
White’s prey includes sea lions, seals, sea turtle and rays. They use their razor-sharp teeth, not
to chew, but to rip their prey into small pieces. They have hundreds of teeth that can grow up
to three inches long. The great white doesn’t have many predators in the ocean except orcas
and larger sharks. Humans, however, are its biggest threat. Humans kill them for their teeth
and fins.
