Reporter Freda, take it away.
News Presenter 3: Miles Ocampo, a former child star og Goin’ Bulilit, has been making
headlines lately for showcasing her incredible acting abilities on the first episode
of the series “Batang Quiapo,” where she feels overwhelmed after her widely
praised performance. Miles, being a young Marites, was sexually assaulted by
fugitive Ramon Montenegro played by Coco Martin and later by Christopher De
Leon. Miles’ impressive display of acting chops did not end there. Two more
scenes, such as her confrontation with her mother Tindeng, played by Lara
Quigaman, and her giving birth in a wet market alone, were also much talked
about.
In her social media post on February 15, Ocampo uploaded photos of
her on the set of the new action-drama series. In the caption, the actress thanked
the show’s lead actor and director Coco Martin and Dreamscape Entertainment
head Deo Edrinal. Ocampo’s superb acting as the young Marites immediately
made a mark, as she trended worldwide.

Anchor 1: China harasses Philippine Coast Guard using military grade laser.
Correspondent Showny reports.
News Presenter 4: The Philippine Coast Guard reported that a Chinese Coast guard ship
directed a military grade laser at one of its vessels which was supporting a
Philippine Navy rotation in the West Philippine Sea on February 6, 2023.
According to one of the US Military, China’s harassment of a Philippine
Coast Guard vessel is provocative and unsafe. More broadly, the US
spokesperson, Ned Price, stated that the China’s dangerous operational behaviors
directly threatens regional peace and stability, infringes upon freedom of
navigations in the South China Sea as guaranteed under International Law and
undermines the rules based on international order.
Moreover, military spokesperson, Medel Aguilar, mentioned that it’s
time for the Chinese government to restrain its forces so that it does not omit any
provocative act that will endanger the lives of people. The PCG said in a
statement that the deliberate blocking of the Philippine Government ships to
deliver food and supplies to military personnel is a blatant disregard for, and a
clear violation of Philippine sovereign rights.
