Example: Some people believe that students in school should study in groups to learn better.

Other people think that school student should study alone. Discuss both views and give you
own opinion. (dated: 01/12/2018)
Opinions diverge on the question of whether school pupils should learn in groups or on their
own. Although I do not deny the advantages of individual learning, I am more supportive of
group work among students for the following reasons.
On the one hand, there are indisputable upsides of self-learning. One of the benefits is that
students are less likely to be driven to distraction by their friends, who may have unrelated
conversations during their meetings. In other words, students working by themselves can have
higher levels of concentration. Another strength of learning individually is that the students
enjoy more flexible timetables since they are not dependent on others’ schedules. For example,
a learner can work extra hours until midnight, when most student group work is impossible or
not allowed by their parents.
On the other hand, I deem that learning in groups is more beneficial to school students.
Undoubtedly, those working in teams receive assistance from each other. An obvious
manifestation is seen in the fact that a more advanced learner can be a tutor providing their
friends with simple explanations of a particular issue. Meanwhile, when given a collective task,
team members can share their ideas so that they come up with a high-quality outcome that a
single individual can hardly reach. Moreover, students learning in groups stand a golden chance
to enhance their teamwork ability, namely communication, negotiation and leadership. Facts
indicate that these skills function as a concrete foundation for the learners’ future life and
career.
In conclusion, despite the merits of solo-learning, I am in favour of group learning or mutual
help and the development of team-work capability.
