Part 1 (10 points): List the topics that need to be covered in a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) that is
developed at the start of a project (100 words or more).
Part 2 (30 points): While there are many issues to consider and potential barriers to overcome, the
development of a Company BIM Assessment is an excellent way to get Building Information Modeling
started within an organization – and that’s what you will do now! (in-class)
Copies of the company BIM Assessment are in the Reference Section. To begin developing your
assessment:
1. Brainstorm a list of three goals. (e.g., BIM knowledge, determining what training is required,
identify a project, identify potential internal future BIM leaders, getting the entire company BIM-
savvy. etc.)
2. On the template:
a. Describe one goal at the top of the page.
b. In Column 1 of the chart, list the current status and what is needed to accomplish the goal.
c. For each step:
i. Identify and list resources (available and needed);
ii. Describe a communications plan;
iii. List any potential barriers;
iv. Assign responsible parties; and
v. Establish a timeline with milestone dates.
3. Explain your Company BIM Assessment. Brainstorm ideas and revise plans as needed.
Purpose: To create a roadmap to determine what needs to be done to successfully introduce BIM within
your company
Directions: Use this template to develop a plan for determining the readiness of your company to embrace
BIM.
1. Identify areas of importance within the company.
2. Use the steps to show progress as you move toward your desired objectives.
3. Share this template with those in your firm who support the shift to a BIM culture.
