period from 2007 to 2012.

Overall, it can be noticed that the ranking of museums has considerably changed over the
period. In the beginning, the most popular one was the Victoria and Alberta Museum and by
the end it had passed the position to the National Gallery.

The majority of people preferred to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2007 and 2008 and
was consisted of about 14% of annual visitors, but this number decreased substantially to
approximately 9% in 2009 and remained almost the same till 2012. Otherwise, the number of
visitors in the National Gallery have been rising constantly and reached 16% in 2012, that is 6%
more than in the Victoria and Albert Museum. In terms of the British Museum, it had been the
second most visited museum, unless there was a half decrease of the number of guests from
around 12% in 2007 to 6% in 2008 and it became the least popular one. By 2012 the British
Museum took the second position back with around 14% of visitors.
