Sentence Adverbs: Describe or qualify the “whole sentence.

 Definitely, I want to be prepared for the wedding.


 I definitely want to be prepared for the wedding. (Normal Verb)
 I want to be prepared for the wedding, definitely.

 Definitely, I am eager to have my phone renewed.


 I am definitely eager to have my phone renewed. (Verb BE)
 I am eager to have my phone renewed, definitely.

Focus Adverbs: Depending on the position of it, the idea might change.

 Maria just doesn’t like me. She hates me.


 Maria doesn’t just like me. She loves me.

 Maria just eats peanuts. She does nothing else in life.


 Maria eats just peanuts. She doesn’t eat other grains.

 Even Marlon, the two-left foot guy, can dance salsa. (Anyone can)
 Marlon can even dance salsa. (He’s got many other skills as well)

 Only Goku is going to save me from Freezer. (No other hero)


 Goku is going to save me only from Freezer. (If Majin Boo comes, I die)

Negative Adverbs: Switch positions, notice the tense, and add the right auxiliary.

 We rarely trust in street vendors. (Present Simple)


 Rarely do we trust in street vendors.
 She will never travel in Avianca anymore. (Future Simple - Will)
 Never will she travel in Avianca anymore.
Other Adverbs: Switch positions, and consider nouns, personal pronouns & auxiliaries.

 Here teaches the arrogant professor.


 Here he teaches.
 There cooks my mom.
 There she cooks.
 Rodrigo submitted the homework. (Past Simple / Affirmative)
 So did I.
 Silvia didn’t arrive on time. (Past Simple / Negative)
 Neither did I

Adverbs of Manner: Describe or qualify “only the verb.”

Adjective – Adverb + (ly)


Beautiful – Bautifully.
Quick – Quickly.
 He came running quickly. (right)
 He quickly came running. (wrong)
