Definition (EPA)
Pollution prevention is reducing or eliminating waste
at the source by (1) modifying production processes,
(2) promoting the use of nontoxic or less toxic
substances, (3) implementing conservation
techniques, and (4) reusing materials rather than
putting them into the waste stream.

Definition: Waste Minimization
Definition (EPA)
Waste Minimization refers to the use of source
reduction and/or environmentally sound recycling
methods prior to energy recovery, treatment, or
disposal of wastes.
Waste minimization does not include waste treatment,
that is, any process designed to change the physical,
chemical, or biological composition of waste streams
