Comparison:

The retail store that I visited is a furniture store that

specializes in a retail business that sells furniture and related
accessories. Furniture retailers usually sell general furniture (like
beds, tables, bookcases, and wardrobes), seats and upholstered
suites (like couches or sofas and chairs), and specialized items
produced for a commission. They may sell a range of styles to suit
different homes and personal tastes or specialize in particular
styles like retro-style furniture. The variety of the product is also
called the “breadth of merchandise” which is the number of
merchandise categories a retailer offers. The assortment is
referred to them as the “depth of merchandise” which is the
number of items in a merchandise category.
Looking at the assortment and support data, we can conclude
that the competing retailer (Sola Funiture) has a wider variety and
depth of assortment for men's shoes compared to retailer MM's
Furniture Shop. For instance, Sola Funiture has 12 SKUs of wooden
furniture in comparison to 8 SKUs at MM's Furniture Shop.
Similarly, Sola Funiture also provides more support to its SKUs on
average, with an average of 4 items per SKU in wooden furniture,
whereas MM's Furniture Shop wooden furniture category only had
an average of 3 items per SKU. Therefore, the competing retailer
Sola Funiture is comparatively better in terms of variety and
assortment.
