How will you uphold the dignity of the human person in the following situations?
1. Your classmates are teasing your cross-eyed classmate because they find her
funny-looking.
- I would defend my cross-eyed classmate against the people who teased her by
confronting these classmates and calmly telling them how their actions are equivalent to
bullying. I’d tell them such behavior shall not be tolerated in school and if they tried to
bully her any further, I would have to inform the teacher, or any other authority, of their
misdeed and actions.

2. Your friend confided in you that his girlfriend told him that she was pregnant.
He is asking your advice on what to do.
- I would advise him to stand by his actions. No matter what happens, he should never
ever run away from responsibility, especially with something as heavy as a human child.
I would suggest that he start gathering some courage and plan ahead on how to feed
the new family. To uphold his dignity, I would keep this information strictly confidential
after giving out my advice, unless the friend himself allows me to share the news.

3. You discover that your 4-year-old sister likes to draw and daydream. She
shows you a drawing of a green flying elephant which she tells you is her
imaginary friend.
- Since I know that drawing makes my sister happy, I would play along with her and her
imaginary friend. I would not make fun of her in any way and compliment her green
flying elephant drawing. I won’t make her feel like she’s weird or different, just because
she likes things that are different from common interests of kids her age.

4. Your teacher invites you to join him in an outreach program where you will be
spending the whole summer break helping impoverished communities.
- I would accept my teacher’s invite and do my best in helping him with the outreach
program. I am always eager to help when it comes to making the world a better place,
so I feel very motivated in joining this outreach program. I would uphold the dignity of
my teacher by warmly accepting the invite and sharing the invite to my friends, in order
to see if any of them would want to volunteer as well.

Recall a profound emotional experience you had and explain how your nature as
an embodied spirit gave meaning to this experience.
- My profound emotional experience was when I was helped by a random stranger on
the jeep, despite her struggling herself. I realized how kind people are still out there and
are willing to help without expecting anything in return. My nature as an embodied spirit
made me realize how we should continue developing the spirit instead of focusing on
the whims and caprices of the body.
