WOODSIDE LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS  

Article I – Rights and Privileges of the Member 


● Each member shall be entitled to vote at all meetings of the Association and to
participate in all events of Woodside Ladies Golf Association (WLGA). 

Article II – Election of Officers 

● Section 1 – The annual election of officers shall be held at the November meeting
of the Association.  New officers will assume their responsibilities at the conclusion
of the December meeting. 

● Section 2 – At least one month prior to the September meeting, the president shall
appoint the chairman of the nominating committee who shall then select her
committee. This committee shall prepare a ballot nominating one candidate for each
office. At the September meeting, nominations may be made from the floor, providing
the nominees have previously agreed to accept the nomination. 

● Section 3 – After the presentation of the slate of officers at the September meeting.
Any nominations from the floor will be added to the ballot. If no nominations are made
from the floor at the September meeting, the slate of officers proposed by the
nominating committee may be accepted by acclamation. If there are nominations from
the floor, voting by ballot shall be done at the November meeting. The ballots will be
counted by two members of the Executive Board. 

● Section 4 – An elected officer shall serve for a term of one (1) year. An individual
may serve a maximum of two consecutive complete terms in any one position. If an
officer is unable to complete her term, the President shall appoint a member to serve
the remainder of the term. In the case of a vacancy in the position of President, the
Vice President shall serve out the remainder of the term.  

Article III – Duties of the Officers 

● Section 1 – The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association. She shall
appoint standing committee chairs and any special committees necessary. She shall
serve as ex-officio member of all committees. 

● Section 2 – The Vice-President shall preside in the absence of the president of the
Association. She is also responsible for all Special Tournaments. 

● Section 3 – The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings. Minutes of all
meetings shall be available in the area established by the Club for LGA use. She
shall handle all correspondence as directed. 
● Section 4 – The Treasurer shall keep records of all funds of the Association. She shall
prepare and submit a proposed budget at the beginning of the calendar year and shall
prepare and submit a year-end balance sheet to be available in the area established
by the Club for LGA use. 

Article IV – Standing Committees 

 The chair of each standing committee shall report to the president. The committee chair
may appoint as many assistants deemed necessary to perform their duties. The
standing committees may include but are not limited to the following: 

Scoring Rules 
Tee For Two Social  
LGA Communications Team Captain  
CSRA Representative State Representative  
Membership 
 Job descriptions for all committees shall be available in the area established by the Club
for WLGA use.

 Each standing committee will have one vote on matters decided upon by the board. 

Article V – Dues 

 The dues for each member shall be a minimum of forty ($40.00) dollars per year and be
prorated as the year progresses. 

Article VI – Rules 

● Section 1 – Woodside Ladies Golf Association play day shall be Thursday or


Saturday of each week.  Thursday is the regular play day. Specific procedures are
detailed in the LGA Play Day Procedures. 

● Section 2 – The Association will play according to the USGA rules and such local
rules as the Rules Committee indicates. 

● Section 3 – A score must be posted each time a player completes a round of golf. A
member must post her score, of any round of golf played. Anytime 7 to 13 holes are
played, a 9-hole score shall be posted according to the USGA rules. Anytime a player
tees off on 14 or more holes, an 18-hole score shall be posted. 

● Section 4 – Members shall specify whether they are joining Division A - competing
from the Azalea tees or Division B - competing from the Burden tees. Members may
switch their tee selection one time per year. Fifty-four (54) holes or an index from
rounds at a past club will be used to establish a handicap for 18 holes allowing the
player to compete for prizes. 

● Section 5 – In tournament play, player handicaps and the breaking of ties will be
determined by pro shop.
