Installing ArgusLab -------------------------------------------------------PLEASE READ THE FILE license.txt, located in the same folder as the install.bat file, before you install and use ArgusLab. After you have unzipped the arguslab.zip file, open a DOS shell and go to the arguslab directory. From the command line, type "install" You should see a shortcut to ArgusLab appear on your desktop. (You do not need to reboot your machine). You are ready to run ArgusLab. For a quick introduction to building a molecule and running a calculation, go to "Quick Start" on the Help menu. Have Fun!! A note on the simplified install: -------------------------------Due to high cost of commercial installation packages, and the instability of some of the "free" ones we experimented with in the past, we have moved to a very simplified install script file. Our present install simply registers 2 COM servers and makes a shortcut on the desktop. All ArgusLab settings are kept in an xml settings file, not in the Windows Registry. Since we don't use the Microsoft Installer (MSI) approach, you won't be able to "Uninstall" ArgusLab from the Control Panel. To uninstall, merely execute the uninstall.bat file in the ArgusLab directory and then manually remove the shortcut from the desktop. Also, you will have to manually delete the ArgusLab folder and executables if you wish. -------------------------------------------------------2. System Requirements. -------------------------------------------------------ArgusLab 1.0 runs on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows 98, and Windows 95 (with the DCOM patch). If you have Windows 95 and ArgusLab displays an error on startup,

you probably need to install the Win95 DCOM patch. This patch is freely available from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom1_2/dcom1_2.asp Memory : 64+ Mbytes (recommended). Disk : ~10 Mbytes free disk space for installation.

Graphics: Support for OpenGL required. Graphics card that supports hardware acceleration for OpenGL highly recommended. Minimum screen resolution supported is 600x800. Must support at least 24-bit color. Mouse : 2-button mouse is required.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later: ArgusLab requires shell32.dll version 4.71 or later which comes with IE 4.0 or later. -------------------------------------------------------3.
