1 Write a paragraph explaining why you want to be a volunteer at Beach Park.
2 Write three advantages and three disadvantages of being a volunteer. Share your ideas with
a classmate and give reasons.

Volunteering
a) Find videos about a volunteering project to clean up natural areas (other than
beaches) that include this information:
• the name of the project;
• its location;
• what people do;
• how other people can get involved.
Try to cover at least one of the points per video.

b) Explain to your teacher and classmates:

• what you learnt about volunteering from the videos;
• whether you would like to do volunteering work (say why / why not);
• your reasons for choosing the videos.

c) In pairs, role play an interview and make a video. Imagine one of you is a volunteer
and the other, the interviewer. Rehearse the interview and then record a video.
Remember to use comparative and superlative adjectives, and a / an, some, any,
not much / many, a lot of, How much / many…? Include questions in relation to the
following items and your own ideas:
• the main objective of the volunteering project;
• its location;
