For new WD hard drives of PCB 1640, 1672, 1698 series, etc, the FW area cannot be accessed
once the hdd is encrypted and you cannot take any further operations on the FW modules.
DFL-WD II has integrated one powerful but easy and smart decryption solution to these hard
drives. If users attach the HDD to DFL-WDII and enter the program, when clicking
‘AutoGetDetail’, it will pop up one error message like the following and the HDD ID data is not
detected and displayed:
Click again the ‘AutoDetDetail’ and the program has automatically detected the password
locked status and ready for users to take next operation: To remove or not to remove.
If users select to remove the password, you will get the following happy results:
If you select not to remove the password, you will find the error messages from the Operations
Log after you enter the function interface. These errors like the following indicate the hdd is
still encrypted.
After users remove the password, the FW area is now accessible and the program can read
and write the modules now.
