Safety precautions
Call ambulance immediately! It’s
a medical emergency
How to prevent heat stroke?
•Avoid going out in the sun during the peak time of the day, i.e., between 11 am
and 3 pm.
•Drink plenty of water or cold beverages throughout the day to prevent
dehydration.
• Do not give tea, caffeine or aerated drink
•Take frequent showers or cool baths.
•Wear loose, cotton clothing as it allows the skin to breathe.
•Avoid synthetics and over dressing
•Spray water over the skin or clothes whenever you feel hot.
•Do not indulge in intense exercise sessions.
•Avoid the consumption of excess alcohol as it increases body
temperature.
If you think someone is suffering from the heat:
•Move the person to a cool place under the shade
•Give water or a rehydrating drink (if the person is still conscious)
•Fan the person
•Consult a doctor if symptoms get worse or are long lasting or the
person is unconscious
•Do not give alcohol, caffeine or aerated drink
•Cool the person by putting a cool wet cloth on his/her face/body
•Loosen clothes for better ventilation

➔The patient needs immediate hospitalisation, as heat strokes


could be fatal.
