SECTION THREE: READING AND COMPREHENSION / 5 MARKS
Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions below it.

Jobs can be dangerous


One day Christine read an advert at the market. 'I have been looking for a job for a long time, ' she thought. 'Maybe I
should try this. I'll phone this number now.'
Christine phoned the number. A man answered.
'The job is in another country. I will take you there. We will go by boat. I have been doing this for many years,'
said the man.
I don't have any money for the boat trip or the passport,' said Christine.
'That's fine,' said the man. 'You can pay me later. I will arrange a passport for you. Meet me on Friday at 12:00
at the boat.'
So Christine went with the man. When they arrived in the new country, he showed her a small room.
'You will stay here,' he said. 'You will share the room with these girls.' Then he took her passport and her
phone away. She has been working there since that day. She works very hard and she has not made enough money to
pay the man back yet. Christine's family have not seen her since then.
