Resident David Tang,
who was stung all over

He said residents had

Recalling the incident-
Tang said, “I was in Ma-

Those who were reluc-

He made the comment at a

course impressively by three lengths from outside
Miss Sunak at Santa Rosa Park. The Dianne Scott-
bred chestnut filly travelled beautifully through-
out the race and pulled away at the end for an
impressive success. The Ladies Stable-owned In
The Headlines was winning for the second time
after scoring on debut in the Royal Colours Classic
over 1,350m on the main track. The chestnut won
both starts, one on the main track and the other
on the turf course.
The other top three-year-old Firecracker from
the Glenn Mendez stable stayed in the field. Fire-
cracker won on her debut impressively but on two
occasions was unable to race. However, she has
been galloping well and trainer Mendez will have
her ready for her next engagement on May 30.
Hart’s Gap was disappointing in his last start and
something was found wrong with the filly. She has
been nominated for this event and stayed in after
the fifth nomination.
O’Brien attacks this event with three horses—In
The Headlines, Angry Bird and Blinding Lights.
This year, the race seems to be between the two
top trainers in the country, O’Brien and Mendez.
The Mendez-trained Firecracker won well
on her first start over 1,100m on day one of the
Arima Race Club (ARC) on January 28. Firecracker
scored decisively by 5 1/2 lengths from Harts Gap,
Blinding Lights and Angry Bird. However, the Jerry
Narace-owned Firecracker was pulled out of the
Royal Colours Classic and the Chief Commander
Classic, which was won by the impressive scorer,
In The Headlines.
The Glen Emmanuel-trained Beep Beep will
have her third start in this event and could do even
better.
The final two horses nominated for the ‘Classic’
are the Lester Alexis-trained Afridi and Theory of
Colours. They both will need to improve to make
the frame in this event. This will be the second
time that the three-year-olds will be racing around
two turns.
What a race we could see when In The Headlines
and Firecracker take on each other but there will
be only one winner.

PLAIN TALK

“It is great to know that your

hard work is really paying
off because everyone is
recognising you. To be honest,
it is something that I had to put
aside because I had my goals
and I had to stay focused on
the team and myself, but there’s
nothing confirmed. If there’s
something in the future that I
really and truly cannot refuse I
would like to go, but so far it’s
been rumours and what’s not,
it’s really exciting to see and
hopefully the best decision will
be made.”
