IMPORTANT CALL FOR HELP

COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Dear Parents and Carers,

Donnington FC is a community organisation in the purest sense – without all Chair

our contributions – both fees and volunteering – we would simply stop Colin Meddings
existing!

We’re grateful to our brilliant coaches, the committee, and to all of you who Secretary
help set up and put away equipment at training and match days. And of Will Stephenson
course, those willing to help out with the refereeing. donningtonfoxes@gmail.com

There are two particular areas where the club needs more helpers:
Directors of Football
Firstly, we urgently need a replacement Club Welfare Officer. Mark Howley

you can help. Visit our website for job details. You would be joining a team Treasurer
with Chimene, and would of course get all the help needed to get up to speed.

Secondly, we want to create a Fundraising Committee. This is needed to treasurerdonningtonfc@gmail.com
help the club secure its plans for the future and keep the annual fees low.
(We remain the most affordable club in Oxford.) This committee might, for Club Welfare Officers
example, organize fundraising events. So far this year we have not managed Jane Dee
to recruit the few people needed to share the tasks: Chimene Bateman

We welcome as much or as little time as you can offer, either regularly or for George Roberts
one-off events.
Communications
As a club, it is our aim that each team should provide at least one Tim Croston
committee member. We’re all busy, so we encourage all parents and

carers from each team to consider taking a turn to volunteer. There are a
variety of roles, some more formal than others, and some requiring less time
commitment. Roles can be shared. Visit our website to see the roles

END OF SEASON EVENT & AGM
Saturday 17th June 10:00am –1:00pm
Our big end-of-season event, including
presentations for all our young players,
takes place on Saturday 17th June
from 10am on the Donnington Rec
Ground. This was the best available date,
taking into account that any chosen
weekend would clash with a tournament
for at least one team.
Our Annual General Meeting (AGM)
will take place at Donnington
Community Centre. Provisional date
Wed 21st June, to be confirmed.

HOW YOU CAN HELP THE CLUB
Become a DBS checked helper
For welfare and safeguarding reasons each team
must always have a certain number of DBS
checked adults present at each training session
and match. All coaches and volunteers (including
referees) should be DBS checked but it also really
helps if some additional parents are DBS checked
as a backup. A DBS check is done via the FA and
the club will pay the fees. You just have to
provide identity documents and fill out an
application form. It’s straightforward so please
contact Club Welfare Officer:

Help on matchdays
Coaches always appreciate anyone willing to turn
up to a home match early and help put up goals
and set up the pitch (and pack away afterwards).
Don’t be shy if asked to help referee or run the
line for a home match either – it’s a much-needed
role and a lot of fun if you give it a go.
