“Disney Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular”

A. Inciting Moment - How does the plight of the main characters begin?
When Aladdin has stolen an apple and was running away from the guards then he met
Jasmine
B. Main conflict
When Jafar took Aladdin to the Cave of Wonders and forces him to go down into it
C. Rising Action (summary)
When Jasmine had to decide to whom she would marry (she was interested to Aladdin
but Jafar told her Aladdin had already been disposed of)
D. Climax (turning point)
When Aladdin came after Genie granted his wishes (to be free from cave and became
prince Ali) but Jasmine refused Aladdin. He didn’t give up on it, so he invited jasmine to
get ride on magic carpet then finally she fallen in love with Aladdin.
E. Falling Action (summary)
Jafar and several guards came and arrested Aladdin and told Jasmin that he is not prince
Ali, then Jafar took the magical lamp and asked 3 wishes to Gennie ; to be a sultan, to be
the most powerful sorcerer on earth and to be Gennie (he got fooled by Aladdin).
Because of his third wish, he sucked down into the magic lamp.
F. Denouement (Resolution – final outcome for each major character)
Jasmine still wanted to marry Aladdin even though he wasn't a prince,
Aladdin used his third wish to free Gennie and then Aladdin and Jasmine got
married
G. How do the characters’ lives change throughout the story? What is their plight at the end
of the play?

IV. Theme of Play


A. What was the main idea/theme of the play and what does it say about the time in which it
was set?
The main idea of the play is the clever person can win against others
B. Meaning of the Title – what is the core meaning, or what is the play saying? Often an
idea is expressed through a feeling – what lies subliminally beneath the feeling?
A musical spectacular means a super amazing show with music combined.
C. Philosophical statements in the play – cite actual quotations found in the script. Pinpoint
the line(s) that make direct reference to your interpretation of its meaning
“Like so many things, it is not what is on the outside that counts, but
what is on the inside that counts” – This is a great quote from
Aladdin about love to emphasize the point that you should get to
know a person before you judge!
D. Implications of the action – What personal and societal changes do the characters deal
with and how does this affect the main idea of the play?
At the first time Aladdin didn’t want to help Genie but Aladdin finally use the lash wish to
give freedom to Genie as a gift because Jasmine would marry him even after knowing
Aladdin wasn’t a sultan.
E. Consider each scene – determine the purpose of each scene in the play. What idea is it
trying to convey? How does it help the overall idea?

V. Personal Reaction
A. Did you like the play? Why or why not? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I like the play because it was spectacular show with a very interactive perfomance combined with
perfect sound play make this drama absolutely good to watch, and I definitely recommend this drama to
other.
E. What actors in Hollywood might be suitable to play the characters from this play on the
big screen?
Not so sure about it. But in my opinion, the casters played their roles perfectly.
