TITLE: MACROECONOMIC FACTORS AFFECTING THE BROILER CHICKEN
PRODUCTION INDUSTRY.

INTRODUCTION: -
Malaysia's livestock sub-sector is based on two main industries: ruminant and non-
ruminant livestock. The non-ruminant business, which includes broiler farming, is one that
should be recognised.

Before proceeding, the term "non-ruminant livestock industry" refers to animals that
do not have the same digestive tract as ruminant livestock. Ruminants are animals that chew
and break down their food many times before digesting it in multiple stomachs, whereas non-
ruminants only digest food in one stomach. Ruminant animals are herbivores, meaning they
eat plant matter, whereas non-ruminant animals are omnivores or carnivores, meaning they
eat both plant and animal matter.

However, the non-ruminant sector, particularly broiler livestock, is currently showing

signs of a fall in domestic production. Despite the fact that our country has been independent
for nearly 60 years, ruminant farmers continue to struggle to establish and expand their
businesses. Furthermore, due to the country's high demand, the need for products, particularly
chicken meat products, is expanding. One of the major issues in the ruminant livestock sector
is the high production cost, which makes competing with the cheaper imported meat market
difficult.

The livestock industry, especially non-ruminant livestock, is currently still small-scale

and has the potential to be developed to ensure domestic food supply and reduce imported
meat. Among the issues and challenges faced in the development of this industry are the lack
of quality breeds, the high price of fodder and the lack of expertise and manpower. The
transformation of the broiler chicken farming industry in the country needs to be improved to
produce quality productivity in increasing the quantity of chicken raised in the country.

2
RESEARCH QUESTIONS:-

Quantitative:-
1. Determine the productivity scenario for the country's chicken market.
2. Determine the causes of the fall in grill manufacturing in Malacca.
3. Investigate the steps to improve the broiler farming industry.

Qualitative: -
1. Does gender influence job prospects in the farming industry?
2. Do disease issues that affect poultry breeding?
3. Is broiler production rate affected by technological factors?
