Background of Cutting Classes

The “Cutting Classes” was quite disturbing and very alarming to watch
and hear. The Idea of our school system cutting out adequate physical learning
for the development of young adolescents is more than a problem, it’s a serious
issues. We are faced with the fact that children are glowingly becoming
overweight and obese to the lack of physical education and activity levels that
are supposed to be provided as a basis curriculum objective within a school
setting. As a country, were not oblivious to the fact that we have a national
obesity crisis that needs to be addressed, not only within the advocating for a
healthy lifestyle, however all we see are fast-food restaurants that serve no
nutritious value.

It’s very worrisome that modern day schooling has initiated the removal
of P.E in public school. Health shouldn’t be negotiable even at the expense of
academic success. Having healthy lifestyle habits and food choices teaches the
youth to better understand the value and importance of sustaining a healthy diet
and body, which impacts academic level. Without these necessities, were
slowing diminishing our brain’s cognitive function and ability by starving it of it’s
appropriate nutrition. The phrase “we are what we eat” is relevant to this topic
and discussion due to the effect that poor nutrition impact’s our brain’s ability to
focus, comprehend, and absorb information that is taught within the classroom.

Within this topic, you can see visible examples of the problem that are
present due to the removal/decreasing level of physical education provided to
young students. A student by the name of George Is bullied at school for his
obesity. He’s estimated to weight approximately 200lbs at the age of 12. We
have a job no matter the profession to help create a better mind and body for
these young children, because without it, we are leaning towards a projection of
having high mortality rate. How can we expect to have great minds leaning this
world, if they can’t reach adulthood?. Diabetes, heart disease and other health
related issues should not be this prevalent, yet a topic of concern at such a
young age. These student’s should be enjoying life and not have to worry about if
their life expectancy is projected to decreased from lack of proper nutrition.

As a future educator, it is my job to teach my students and myself how

to promote a healthy body and mind by allowing them to be exposed to the
elements of nature, fitness and activity and nutrition. I can’t expect my students
to want to have a better body and mind if I don’t have the same attitude.
Implementing at least 15minutes-1hr of active mobility is just a steps towards the
right direction. Encourade young children to have healthy eating habits and
educating them on the right food substance to eat; also providing knowledge
about how sugar, carbs and fatty food effect the body and mind is necessary in
creating a push to potentially reversing the effects of poor nutrition and physical
fitness that we adapted as a nation. Parents should be advised to start creating
healthier eating habits and encouraging 30 minutes of physical activity to
stimulate energy production, so that it regulates the normally of a healthy diet
and lifestyle.
