The natural resources such as oil, forests and fresh water are being consumed at an

alarming rate. What problems does it cause? How can we solve these problems?
Example Answer:
Human beings are exploiting natural resources like oil and forests at a rapid rate. In this
essay, I will outline some problems linked to this phenomenon and suggest two possible
solutions.

There are two major concerns about such a situation. One of the concerns is that rapid
consumption of natural resources causes environmental degradation. For instance, as
petrol, which is a product of oil, is used, it produces a large amount of greenhouse gas,
which contributes to global warming, and toxic gas, which is correlated with the
formation of acid rain. Another problem is it also leads to social conflict. As natural
resources become more and more scarce, their price will inevitably skyrocket, and poor
people are not likely to afford them. Therefore, the gap between the rich and the poor
will become wider, and society will become less stable.

To address these problems, there are two possible measures. First, alternative energies
should be promoted to replace traditional resources. The government, firms, and
individuals should co-operate to develop and use alternative power sources such as
solar, wind, or tidal energy than fossil fuels. Secondly, the government should also
produce strict laws to make sure that energy ought to be exploited efficiently. For
instance, those who waste energy will be fined heavily, and firms which adopt energy-
efficient technology will be granted subsidies.

To sum up, rapid exploitation of natural resources will cause both environmental and
social problems. I suggest that the government, firms, and individuals should work
together to promote the use of alternative energy sources and improve the efficiency of
its use.
