Many countries are experiencing serious problems with their environment, with pollution of

their land, water and air.

What are these problems and how might they be reduced?

It is a matter of fact that a number of nations are encountering severe environmental issues,
including land, water and air pollution. Therefore, this essay will elaborate on some possible causes
as well as potential solutions.

One of the root causes of this problem is that the world is becoming increasingly industrialized.
By burning fossil fuels, most power plants and factories could emit chemical substances such as:
Sulphur and carbon dioxide, which can contribute to global warming and threaten to melt the polar
ice cap. Meanwhile, acid rain can be produced, leaching nutrients out of the soil and causing plants
to die. Another prime culprit would be the transportation, which can be attributed to the rapid
increase in the use of private vehicles. Therefore, exhaust fumes from means of transport can
pollute the atmosphere and cause respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis

Despite the aforementioned problems being serious, they are not insurmountable. One solution
which may have a beneficial effect would be to encourage alternative sources of energy such as
solar and wind energy in order to reduce the dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels, which
might reduce the amount of hazardous substances in the air. Another plausible solution for the
government would be to support residents by lowering the cost of public transport, upgrading
infrastructure, raising the number of public vehicles and impose higher taxes on private cars so
that people would use public transport more frequently.

In conclusion, it is clear that the problems are serious but there are some compelling solutions
which could potentially address these issues. If the government launch a publicity campaign in the
media and in schools to educate people about the environment, then hopefully future generations
will benefit from fresh air and avoid environmental pollution.
