SPEECH MAP
SPEECH PARTS REMARKS

INTRODUCTION

1. Which attention-getting device do you plan to use?

I plan to use the reference to audience to grab the

attention of the audience. That would relate to the
audience their experience including these scenarios that
happened in them. Adding some questions about them
and how they see the world being big and them being
small.

2. How will you link your attention-getting device to your

actual topic?

I would give an example to them of a basic scenario that

happened in their life that would link to my topic.

3. Why should your audience listen to your speech?

Because it gives a reflection on our ideas of, us humans

and feels less inferior about how the world is getting
bigger and getting smaller.

4. What is the general purpose of your speech?

The general purpose of my speech is to give persuasion

to help the audience to open the discussion that “The
world is not our enemy but our ally”.

5. What is your specific purpose or thesis statement?

To acknowledge that there is more than meets the eye,

and it’s all right to know about those.

BODY
6. What are the main points that will discuss your thesis
statement? How will you support them?

Main Point: Expect the unexpected

Support:
Life is full of unexpected events, thus making us inferior
and smaller. The thought of you being the center of
everything then you realize there is more to life than
being in the center. The center of being happy, having no
problem, then as you grow old, life seems to be so big,
and you feel small. Realize, there are bigger
responsibilities and mindsets. Sometimes, we tend to
forget we don’t know the next plan, and when it turns,
we realize we are not the people who are in the center,
but the person circling around the center, which is life.

Main Point: Questions

Support:
As we continue our lives, we experience those contexts
of difficulty and decisions. We realize life is full of
questions. We are filled with errors, failures, and
malfunctions. Now, can I keep up? Can I still be the
center of my world than being part of the world?

Main Point: Answers

Support:
If you can’t walk then crawl, if you can’t crawl then swim.
Perspective is just what it all needs. Life is just a
structure of the perspective of what your question is to
be answered. You see this reality, see it as “fight” not
“fright”. The world is big, and the world will make you
realize you are small. But know that everything is an
opportunity. New discovery? New knowledge. New tech?
New opportunity. New law? New change. Everything is a
Perspective.

CONCLUSION

7. How will you end your speech?

Which concluding device will you use?

I will end my speech with a quote that came from a

famous philosopher. My concluding device will be using
is “concluding with a quotation”.

SPEECH OUTLINE
Title: Perspective

General Purpose: Persuasive

Specific Purpose: Acknowledgement

I. Introduction
A. Attention-getting device/Hook
Reference to Audience
- Do you remember when you were young, you guys would happily play outside and not
think a single moment of other thing but just that moment? The moment when you feel
non-situational. Then as you keep living, many events come and take place. Then the
feeling of being physically small is not just physical.

B. Link to the topic

I remember before high school, I was a happy girl, a joyful kid, a student, a child, who didn’t
care about my surroundings. My family describe me in Bisaya as “tabiaan”, in Tagalog
“madaldal”. Then as I enter high school, my freshman year. I was hit with the world; I was hit
right in the face, written and said.
C. Credibility and relevance
I want you to understand that this is not, a sad story. As said by Soothsayer from Kung Fu
Panda 2 “Our story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn't make you who you
are. It is the rest of your story, who you *choose* to be”.

D. Thesis Statement
I want you to acknowledge that there is more than meets the eye, and it’s all right to know
about those.

III. Conclusion

A. Thesis Restatement
Acknowledgments are a must; I’m not saying you should accept or deny them, but be aware
that these are known.

As I spoke here to you, today explaining the understanding of the terms of big and small. The
analysis of life and perspective and us.

C. Concluding Thoughts
I can end this with a quote from Aldous Huxley saying - “There are things known and there are
things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.”
