INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the study

The COVID-19 outbreak has spread swiftly in a number of countries. This epidemic has
had both short-and long-term psychosocial and mertal health implications on every family
member. The degree of family resilience is influence by a variety of risk variables, including
developmental stage, educational attainment, pre-existing mental health disorders, economic
disadvantage or deprivation, and confinement due to illness or fear of illness. This qualitatuve
study investigated how parents raised their children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to
school and childcare closures, many parents had to deal with their way of life while also
struggling to find money to meet their children’s while attending online classes during the
COVID-19 pandemic is extremely tough for them, and the method they support their children’s
needs in terms of food and health has failed since they do not have enough money to meet their
family’s fundamental demands.

There are currently few in-depth qualitatives studies on how these changes have affected
parent’s mental health and well being. We discuss the ethical implications of the pandemic with
a focus on the accentuation of family obligations and shared family practices during an overall
crisis, as well families’ attempts to navigate ethical dilemmas between family theory with
phenomenological points of view on ethics and morality. Many disadvantaged families have
experienced a number of not expected hardships as a result of the Coronavirus Disease 2019
(COVID-19) pandemic, and these ongoing demands are likely to produce more stress for all
family members, especially the parents for thinking on what will happen tomorrow especially
the future of their kids

The purpose of this study was to outline the difficulties faced by lower-class families
during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this study is to provide advice on how to
manage stress and lead a healthy lifestyle to the impoverished families on Parola Tondo,
Manila. The moral dilemmas that our informants brought up serve as examples of the varied
responsibilities that we have to one another as family and as citizens, respectively. The also
demonstrate hoe, in the midst of a societal crisis, moral demands can occasionally collide with
one another. Thus, at times of crisis, it is underlined how family values cultural histories, and
traditional family rituals intersect.

 Paticipants / Respondents’ Parents

It has been an extremely difficult time for our family since the COVID-19 pandemic
began. We were already struggling financially before the pandemic hit, but things have only
gotten worse since then. We have had trouble accessing basic necessities like food and
healthcare, and many of us have lost our jobs or had our hours reduced. It’s been a constant
struggle to make ends meet and keep pou family safe.

 Teachers /Educational Staff

During the COVID-19 pandemic many of us learned in life made way for the hard work
and many of us are also looking for a solution to overcome it and in this way it helps everyone
to prevent it from spreading and always having to obey the command to makes us more secure
in the everyday.

 Barangay Chairman / Barangay Staff

One of the main challenges for underprivileged families during the COVID-19 pandemic
has been the loss of income and financial stability. Many parents have lost their jobs or have
had to take reduced hours, which has led to difficulties in paying bills, buying groceries, and
providing for their families. The pandemic has also exposed existing inequalities in access to
healthcare and education, making it harder for parents to provide their children with the
necessary resources and support.
