ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Firstly, I would like to acknowledge our school vice principal Ms.Leggerton for allowing us to proceed with

our Football Tournament for The (S.B.A) Student Based Assessment in the hall area as well as in the

Science block area. As the Competition Director, I will ensure that everything runs smoothly, On behalf of

the Physical Education class we thank you. Secondly, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my

Physical Education teacher, Mrs.Anita Fraser. She is really one of a kind and without her guidance and

constant motivation, this SBA would not have been possible. Thirdly, I would like to acknowledge the

students who took part in the competition and all the group members who helped put this together, thank

you for your cooperation and for making this experience an unforgettable one. Lastly, I would like to thank

everyone who aided the Physical Education class while managing the event. Everyone's contribution was

greatly appreciated.

4
INTRODUCTION

The SBA for physical education and sports instructs that students are to host a competition with each student

taking on a role as an official in the tournament. The students are required to manage every aspect of the

tournament such as planning out games, raising money for medals and trophies as well as umpiring the

games. For the SBA, our class decided to do the sport "Football". Each member was appointed a certain role

to play throughout the tournament.

Football was chosen as it is an extremely popular and common sport in the Caribbean. The aim and

objective are to run this event successfully and safely, in doing this we would create an opportunity for

players to show their talent, encourage socialization among participants and non-participants and expose

students to the sport of football. Throughout the tournament, each student was required to fulfill their roles

and responsibilities of their role and report on what they have done. My SBA Role was Being A

Competition Director.

5
BRIEF HISTORY OF FOOTBALL

Modern football originated in Britain in the 19th century. Since before medieval times, “folk football”

games had been played in towns and villages according to local customs and with a minimum capacity of

rules. Industrialization and urbanization, which reduced the amount of leisure time and space available to the

working class, combined with a history of legal prohibitions against particularly violent and destructive

forms of folk football to undermine the game’s status from the early 19th century. However, football was

taken up as a winter game between residence houses at public (independent) schools such as Winchester,

Charterhouse, and Eton. Each school had its own rules; some allowed limited handling of the ball and others

did not. The variance in rules made it difficult for public schoolboys entering university to continue playing

except with former schoolmates. As early as 1843 an attempt to standardize and codify the rules of the game

was made at the University of Cambridge, whose students joined most public schools in 1848 in adopting

these “Cambridge rules,” which were further spread by Cambridge graduates who formed football clubs. In

1863 a series of meetings involving clubs from metropolitan London and surrounding counties produced the

printed rules of football, which prohibited the carrying of the ball via hand. Thus, the “handling” game of

rugby remained outside the newly formed Football Association (FA). Indeed, by 1870 all handling of the

ball except by the goalkeeper was prohibited by the FA.

6
DEFINITION
Association football, more commonly known as soccer or just football, is a team sport that is played

between two teams of 11 players using a spherical ball. It is played by approximately 250 million players in

over 200 countries and dependencies, making it the world's most popular sport to date. The game is played

on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score more goals

than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal within a time frame of 90

minutes or more. Football is played in accordance with a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. The

ball is 68–70 cm (27–28 in) in circumference and known as a football. The two teams compete to get the

ball into the other team's goal (between the posts and under the bar), thereby scoring a goal. Players are not

allowed to touch the ball with hands or arms while it is in play, except for the goalkeepers within the penalty

area. Players may use any other part of their body to strike or pass the ball and mainly use their feet. The

team that has scored more goals at the end of the game is the winner; if both teams have scored an equal

number of goals, either a draw is declared or the game goes into extra time or a penalty shootout, depending

on the format of the competition. Each team is led by a captain who has only one official responsibility as

mandated by the Laws of the Game: to represent their team in the coin toss before kick-off or penalty kicks.

OPENING CEREMONY REFLECTION
On Friday 10th June 2022 The Physical Education class held our Opening Ceremony for The Football

Tournament. With exception of student who had Covid 19 all students were present and prepared for the

opening ceremony. As we were about to start we were informed by administration that school will be

dismissed early due to no water on the compound. As a result we had to rush the programme. In spite of this

set back we were able to execute our part comfortably and everyone enjoyed themselves. I did the welcome

speech which was followed by the introduction of officials. We then introduced the teams, their managers

and coach respectfully. Team members Jaeden Andrews and Kishawn Vincent did the Athletes Oath and

Referees pledge. We had speeches by the Head of Science Department and the Form 5 Dean. After which

we all enjoyed some tasty refreshments. The reason due to having the opening ceremony after the games is

because of the limited time. The opening ceremony started at 9:00am and ended at 10:20am.My and I had

WHAT IS A WARM UP AND A COOL DOWN
'Warming up' is a part of stretching and preparation for physical exertion or a performance by
exercising or practising gently beforehand, usually undertaken before a performance or practice.
Athletes, singers, actors and others warm up before stressing their muscles.

Cooling down is a fairly easy exercise, done after a more intense activity, to allow the body to
gradually transition to a resting or near-resting state. Depending on the intensity of the exercise,
cooling down after a workout method such as intense weight lifting can involve a slow jog or walk
