Subject: Enhanced rainfall activity over the districts of South Bengal during 11th to 14th September,
2022.
Yesterday’s Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Bay of
Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-South Odisha coasts moved west-northwestwards and concentrated into a Depression
over South coastal Odisha and neighbourhood and moved west-northwestwards with a
speed of 25 kmph during past 03 hours and lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 11th September
2022, over south Odisha near latitude 19.7 ° N and longitude 84.0 ° E, about 80 km eastsoutheast of
Bhawanipatna (Odisha), 110 km westnorthwest of Gopalpur (Odisha), 210 km eastnortheast of
Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) and 260 km eastsoutheast of Kanker (Chhattisgarh). It is likely to move
westnorthwestwards across south Odisha and south Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours and weaken gradually.

Forecast:
11.09.2022 to 14.09.2022: Light to moderate rain with thunder very likely to occur at most places over the
districts of South Bengal.
Warning:
11.09.2022(ORANGE WARNING)Heavy to very heavy rain (07–20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two
places over North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore and Howrah districts.
(YELLOW WARNING): Heavy rain (07–11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata, Hooghly,
East Burdwan, Jhargram and Bankura districts of South Bengal.
12.09.2022 (ORANGE WARNING)Heavy to very heavy rain (07–20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two
places over North & South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore districts.
(YELLOW WARNING): Heavy rain (07–11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kolkata, Hooghly,
Jhargram, Murshidabad, Birbhum, West Midnapore, Nadia and Howrah districts of South Bengal.

13.09.2022(YELLOW WARNING): Heavy rain (07–11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over North &
South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Murshidabad, Nadia, East Burdwan and Birbhum districts of South
Bengal.

14.09.2022(YELLOW WARNING): Heavy rain (07–11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over North &
South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad and Nadia districts of South Bengal.
Wind Warning(YELLOW WARNING):
11.09.2022 to 13.09.2022: Wind speed 35 –45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph likely to prevail over South 24
Parganas and East Midnapore districts of South Bengal.

Fishermen warning (Red Warning)


Due to formation of Depression over South coastal Odisha and neighbourhood, squally weather with
wind speed exceeding 45 kmph very likely to prevail over North Bay of Bengal along and off West Bengal -
Odisha coasts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea from 11th to 13th September’2022.

Possible Impact:
1. Water logging in the low lying area of Municipality/Corporation.
2. Damage to horticulture and standing crops & vegetables in the field.
3. Reduction in visibility during heavy rainfall.
Action suggested:
1. Follow traffic advisories if any.
2. Drain out excess water from the crops field.
3. Do not use fertilizer & pesticides as it may wash out.
4. People are advised to take safer places during thunderstorm and lightning.
5. Water Bound activities may be regulated over the coast of East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas particularly Digha,
Mandarmani and Sagar during 11-13th September, 2022.
