Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students are able to differentiate the geometric shapes when demonstrated and form an
object with origami paper.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students fold sheets of origami papers in geometric shapes to create miniature paper
objects.
Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

Instructing students with a step by step process of folding an origami paper into shapes.
The actual origami piece itself is a heart envelope. In the envelope the students will write
a little message to their mothers for mothers day. This incorporates both math and
english.

CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

Standard 2.g.1. Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number
of angles or a given number of equal faces.

Instructional Procedures

- Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)
Instructional Strategies (Describe each of the instructional methods you will employ during the
lesson.)

- Class class “yes yes”

- Peanut butter “Jelly time”
- Counting down 3 2 and 1

- Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

Having materials in front of students leading them to be intrigued in participating.

- Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

Seeing students with moving fingers using their fine motor skills
- Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

Closure with students would be to let them know that shapes are a part of a
form of math, specifically geometry.

- Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

To assess the students progress would be to see the final products of the
origami pieces. The students would’ve understood the types of shapes to fold the
paper into.

Lesson Plan Materials (Include everything needed to successfully complete the lesson with
the full class. Remember to include all supplies, as well as technology, whiteboard space,
classroom space, etc.)

- Origami paper
- Projector overhead
- Youtube video example of origami piece
