Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students will improve on their real-life application of fractions that will help them further there
understanding of the subject.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will listen the review lecture. Students will think and respond to questions out loud.
Students will practice independently. Students will complete their independent practice work.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

I am going to open to the lesson plan by starting up a little lesson or a review of what the kids
have learned on fractions. With some examples, a lesson. I will also integrate the real-world
application of the usage of fraction by bringing in a toy version of a pizza to show an example.
After this is over, I will have the students take a sort of quiz on their own of the fraction sheet.
As they are working on this, I will go around the class in the section of the seats and have the
kids figure out how to evenly fraction up a treat that they will all get.

CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

In my lesson plan I will be using MP.4. The CCSS is that 3rd grade students use a variety of models to
represent and develop understanding of fractions.
Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will have a lesson work sheet that will have the students have their attention divided
on what I am saying. I will also give the students time to know that they need to listen
to me.

• Instructional Strategies (Click into that link for help describing all instructional methods you will
employ during the lesson. Remember, instructional strategies fall into one or more of the following
broad categories: DIRECT, INDIRECT, EXPERIENTIAL, INTERACTIVE, INDEPENDENT
STUDY)

Direct: I will use mastery lecture to help students be able to completely understand the
concept of using fractions.
Indirect: The students will problem solve a fraction worksheet that is in front of them.
Experiential: We will simulate a real-world problem by using cookies in class to show
how it would happen.
Interactive: The students will work together to be able to equally fraction up a cookie
between all of us.
Independent: I will assign the kids questions that they will need to finish and do
correctly.

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will call on students during my lesson plan, give them the opportunity to answer the
question so they can participate. Essentially let them have a voice in the classroom.

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

I will call on kids to make sure they are relatively on task. While I am in front of the
class, make sure they are paying attention.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

The lesson will end with a sense of happiness, with the eating of a treat on
their accomplishment of being able to use fractions in the real world.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

Students will take a sort of assessment. A worksheet even that goes over the
material that was taught. They will do this independently and check if the
student can do it on their own.
Lesson Plan Materials (Include everything needed to successfully complete the lesson with
the full class. Remember to include all supplies, as well as technology, whiteboard space,
classroom space, etc.)

Projector, Screen, Elmo, Copy of review worksheet, copy of the assessment work sheet,
cookies, napkin, little plastic knife, pizza toy fraction,

Mentor Signature & Date (Verification you taught this lesson with their class)
