Holy Week is the set of celebrations of a religious nature that takes place the last week of
Lent, between Palm Sunday and Resurrection Sunday, that is, Easter Day. The festivities
commemorate the last moments of Jesus' life: Palm Sunday is the day on which Jesus' entry
into Jerusalem is celebrated, Holy Thursday is the date of the Last Supper, Good Friday
commemorates the crucifixion, Saturday Santo is a day of mourning and, finally, on Easter
Sunday the resurrection is celebrated.

VALLENATA LEGEND FESTIVAL

It is the most important vallenato event.1 It is held annually at the end of April or beginning
of May since 1968 in Valledupar, Colombia and is organized by the Fundación Festival de
la Leyenda Vallenata, which oversees the defense and dissemination of expressions
folkloric and popular that surround vallenata music. The festival seeks to preserve the four
airs or rhythms of vallenato: paseo, merengue, son and puya. In addition, the genre of
piqueria, parranda, peasant poetry, stories, legends, myths, oral tradition, literary,
sociocultural and artistic expressions associated with vallenato.

The vallenato festival is identified for being one of the most recognized festivities
currently, folk music and various types of cultural events are presented.
BARRANQUILLA CARNIVAL

The Barranquilla carnival is an event in which all the cultural varieties and folklore of the
Colombian Caribbean Coast are expressed, as well as the most varied local manifestations,
such as popular music and dance.
