Biography about Gregorio del Pilar

Gregorio del Pilar, also known as "Goyo," was a Filipino general who played a
significant role in the Philippine Revolution and the Philippine-American War. He
was born on November 14, 1875, in the town of San Jose, Tarlac, in the
Philippines.

Del Pilar was the youngest general in the Philippine Revolutionary Army during
the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. He joined the Katipunan, a
secret society that sought to overthrow Spanish rule in the Philippines, at the age
of 17. He quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the trusted
lieutenants of Emilio Aguinaldo, the leader of the Philippine Revolution.

During the Philippine-American War, Del Pilar continued to fight for Philippine
independence. He is best known for his heroic stand at the Battle of Tirad Pass on
December 2, 1899. With only 60 men under his command, Del Pilar held off a
force of 500 Americans for several hours before he was killed in action.

Del Pilar's bravery and sacrifice have made him a national hero in the Philippines.
He is remembered as a symbol of the Filipino spirit of patriotism and nationalism.
Today, there are numerous memorials and monuments dedicated to him
throughout the Philippines, and his legacy continues to inspire Filipinos to fight
for their independence and sovereignty.
